Who Am I?

My name is Helen and I am the Founder and Creator of NautibagsUS. I have a BA from The College of William and Mary in Medieval Literature and an MA from The University of Richmond. I am married to Virginia Archeologist, Environmental Scientist and Conservationist Christopher Egghart (Egghead Archeological Consulting). We have been business owners in Bellevue on the Northside of Richmond, VA for over 20 years. Our first venture was leasing and renovating the Old Bellevue Post Office and turning it into a Yoga and Wellness Center and Yoga Teacher Training School with 200 Hour TTP's across Va, MD, NC and PA. I then went on to open a small boutique (for nearly 10 years) that specialized in European clothing, jewelry and accessories. In the Fall of 2024 I was forced to close my lovely shop and one of my long hair mini Dachsunds became permanently disabled. Sewing became a lifeline and NautibagsUS came into existence in Fall of 2025, working out of my home and eventually my NautibagsUS  Workroom/Showroom located in my backyard. People ask me all the time if I use reclaimed or recycled Sailcloth and my response is "No." I am a one person operation with no warehouse or facilities for repurposing old sails. And anyway I love a crisp, clean Sailcloth Bag than can be softened over time. I love creating stories with my Bags and Wall Hangings (such as "Day is Done" or "Lobster Run"). I hope you enjoy using your Bags as much as I have enjoyed creating them.

Cheers!

Helen
